Hey hey! I’m Jonny, I’m a product designer with 10+ years of experience specializing in native mobile design for iOS and Android.
I’ve been lucky enough to have worked on almost every design process needed to bring a digital product to life, and have seen through multiple phases of product lifespans. I’m proficient at all stages of the design process, but in particular, I like to focus on the visual/UI part of the process. Cross team collaboration with engineering, product, and project management is also one of my favorite parts of this job.
At the end of the day, working together with talented people to build something we can all be proud of is why I do this.
Realtor.com
I was at my most recent position was at Realtor.com mostly focused on the home details pages of the iOS and Android apps. Of course, I also frequently collaborated with other teams and led a pretty large effort to align some of the app navigation information architecture.
Realtor.com Augmented Gallery
A near universal experience of real-estate apps is looking at the image gallery. One of my favorite projects was getting to lead the way to future proofing our gallery experience.
Realtor.com Mobile App IA Redesign
For mobile apps, efficient and clear navigation is crucial. I was tasked with helping provide the design direction on how we should reorganize our app to accommodate new features.
UNDER ARMOUR
I was lucky enough to spend the majority of my career working on Under Armour’s suite of fitness apps. In particular, I mainly focused a lot on the MapMyRun app helping improve the running experience for millions of users. Over the 9+ years of my time there, I got to work on an incredibly diverse number of health and fitness driven projects.
Working on products that had to balance user driven goals and Under Armour’s strong brand visuals was always a fun, satisfying challenge. Ultimately, getting to build experiences that legitimately improved users health and wellbeing will always be a highlight of my career.
This next section highlights some of my favorite projects.
UA MapMyRun Design System and Visual Refresh
The last project I took part in overseeing was a redesign of the UA MapMyRun app. This included establishing an updated visual language and building a new design system alongside engineering.
For 7 years, I worked on every yearly iteration of Under Armour’s connected shoe experience. Check this out for an overview of what a long term project looks like and case studies on the last iterations of this experience.
UA Connected Footwear
One of my most successful feature redesigns was for the training plans feature for the UA MapMyRun App. We took a 3+ year old feature that was developed in Copenhagen for Endomondo and redesigned it into something fresh and exciting.
UA MapMyRun Training Plans
Over my long tenure working on the MapMy apps, one of my coolest projects was designing our first Apple Watch app. It was one of the launch apps for the first Apple Watch. And then a few years later I got revisit it and give it a modern update.
